This achievement earned him spots on prestigious junior driver programs, including the McLaren Young Driver Programme in 2012 and the Red Bull Junior Team in 2013.
He solidified his status as a top prospect in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship, finishing as vice-champion in 2014, notably ahead of future Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen. Following this, Blomqvist pivoted from single-seaters to touring cars, joining BMW as a factory driver in the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) series. From 2015 to 2017, he competed in DTM, becoming the manufacturer’s youngest-ever DTM race winner.
